OUTREACH
In its efforts to continue preserving the World Heritage Site of Petra, PNT believes that to effectively protect and manage the site, the integration of the local communities of the Petra Region is crucial, as is heightening people’s awareness of the fragility and uniqueness of Petra and the need to preserve protect it.. By taking on community and awareness projects, PNT hopes to improve the quality of life of youth and Jordanian citizens, enhance their awareness of the uniqueness of Petra and its values, and encourage them through sustainable income generation projects to play a proactive role in the development of their social, economic, educational and health conditions.
PNT is currently extending its role in the preservation of Petra beyond archaeological and environmental preservation and is initiating a programme for involving youth through voluntary work on projects in Petra.). By establishing this programme, PNT hopes to attract volunteers from Jordan, the Region and internationally with the aim of disseminating awareness and the need to protect our heritage. The programme is part of PNT’s Outreach and Communications Section.
